Business Advocacy
The Chamber is constantly working for your business interests and for the future of small and large companies in the commonwealth by supporting legislators in Harrisburg with a pro-business voting record. Our commitment to working for business reforms in Harrisburg underscores our continued commitment to business in Chester County.
Below are just a few of our key issues.
Fair Share Act
Addressing the Joint & Several Liability reform was a significant victory for every business owner in Pennsylvania. The Chamber brought this issue to the forefront and made it a priority with our legislators.
Medical Malpractice
Keeping doctors in the state and steaming the rising cost of medicine is a concern for every insurance premium paying business, small or large. Tort Reform for malpractice cases in the Commonwealth will continue to be an issue we will lobby for in Harrisburg.
Elimination of the Capital Stock & Franchise Tax
The proposed plan of phasing out this anti-business tax isn’t pro-business enough to benefit today’s new company or franchise. The Chamber is working with our elected officials in Harrisburg for complete elimination.
Net Operating Loss Carry Forward Provision
Currently this provision is only applied to ‘C’ corporations, leaving ‘S’ corporations, partnerships and sole proprietors without this ability. The increase in the extension (from 10 – 20 years) grants the same tax benefits of large businesses to small companies and sole proprietors.
The Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry engages in strategic alliances with state and national business organizations to present a unified voice on issues that are important for business. We utilize the resources and expertise of these partners to enhance the work of our Chamber.
As the national voice of business, the U.S. Chamber’s core purpose is to fight for free enterprise before Congress, the White House, regulatory agencies, the courts, the court of public opinion, and governments around the world.
As the state-wide voice of business, the Pennsylvania Chamber serves as the frontline advocate for business on Capitol Hill by influencing the legislative, regulatory and judicial branches of state government.
As a CEO-based group of business leaders, The Pennsylvania Business Council will work aggressively to define key long-term public policy strategies and solutions that make the Commonwealth more competitive; and elect candidates for office who offer the best capacity to create and sustain a better Pennsylvania.
