MALVERN, PA – June 17, 2011 – The Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry announced today at its Board meeting that they have been awarded a 4-star accreditation by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In announcing the award, “We are very proud of the Chamber’s accreditation with 4-Stars, an improvement from our award five years ago, as it signifies the organization’s desire to provide the best services and programs possible to our membership and the community” stated Chairman of the Accreditation process Mike DeHaven, Rainer & Company, CPA’s.
The only program of its kind in the country, U.S. Chamber Accreditation recognizes excellence in chamber planning and performance. To achieve Accreditation, a chamber must demonstrate quality programs, clear organizational procedures, and effective communications by meeting minimum
standards in its operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take six to nine months to complete. “Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing their community,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber Executive Director of Political Affairs and Federation Relations.
In the final report the Chamber was commended for having “an excellent grasp of the programs that its membership values most, the chamber’s varied advocacy programs and events, and the chamber’s planning to continue these programs in the future”. Of the recommendations provided to the Chamber for future growth, much detailed the need to increase funding for additional staff, specifically in the area of government relations, new technology to assist in communicating legislative positions effectively, the need for long-term funding reserves and membership development. The Chamber’s Board will utilize all of this information as they plan for the future of the organization.
“To receive a 4-Star rating truly signifies the commitment of the leadership of this organization to continually improve and provide effective programming for our members. We want to extend our appreciation to all of the members who assisted in this process with their time and talent to continue and improve our Chamber’s efforts as a leading business organization” stated Chairman of the Board, Brian DiSabatino, EDiS Construction and Real Estate Development.
