In April, I joined other area hospitals and the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) to commit Chester County Hospital to participate in a statewide campaign. The campaign challenges our hospital to educate all employees and our community about the crucial need for organ, eye, and tissue donation and to encourage people to register as donors. As one of our strategic business partners I am asking for your support.
The numbers are overwhelming: there are more than 5,400 Pennsylvanians awaiting a life-saving transplant. These patients are waiting for a family to be generous, in their time of greatest grief, as they have just lost a loved one. Every day, more people are added to the wait list and patients are dying daily who have not yet received the organ transplant they so desperately needed.
How can you help?
• Share this communication with your colleagues and office staff.
• Encourage your colleagues and office staff to register to be organ and tissue donors by visiting www.donors1.org/PENN. It only takes 30 seconds to designate oneself as a donor… Thirty seconds that may save a life.
Penn Medicine is home to the largest transplant center in our region and our commitment to the patients we care for and the community means we ought to lead the way regarding organ donation decision making. We know transplant works. Now is the time to lead the way and become an organ donor.
Thank you for your consideration to help in our efforts to raise awareness.
