Local Pool Service and Supply Company Awarded National Recognition
FRAZER, Pa., Oct. 19, 2018—Though the Summer pool season has cooled down for many in the area this month, competition for one local business is beginning to heat up. Earlier this week Great Valley Pool Service was named seventh in the nation on the Pool and Spa News’s (PSN) 2018 Top 50 Service list. Coming in as one of only two female-owned companies on the list, GVPS was ranked third for staff management, having over 150 years of combined service among its seasoned technicians.
Pool and Spa News’ Top 50 Service list is a new contest for the national magazine, with the 2018 competition being in its inaugural year. Publication editors combed through submissions from across the nation to recognize the Top 50 applicants, scoring candidates on “the six pillars that make a great service company: customer service, revenue, staff management and training, industry involvement, web presence and community contributions,” according to the PSN website. GVPS was recognized in the Top 10 for both staff management and training, and revenue—seventh on the overall list.
“I think this award is a testament to the long and grueling hours our technicians and employees put in during the summer,” said Matt Kochan, service manager and GVPS employee for over 22 years. “We’ve had a lot of customers post positive reviews [online] about our work and our skills, so… It’s nice to get recognized when you give everything you physically and mentally can for something.”
GVPS, which employs as many as 40 employees in the peak of its season, serves Chester County, the Main Line and the surrounding area. Not only does the company provide quality service and pool maintenance for nearly 2,000 customers, its retail storefront has amassed a loyal customer base, offering trusted brands of pool and spa chemicals to neighbors on the Main Line for over 27 years. It also has two complementary divisions, Great Valley Awning specializing in shade products such as stationary and retractable awnings and Great Valley Christmas Décor providing exterior holiday decorating for commercial and residential customers in the off-season.
Under President and CEO Tracy Bond and her brother Cecil Bond III, who purchased the business in 2014, the company has continued to grow in customers each year and maintain talented employees, many of which have been employed with GVPS for over 10 years.
Bond said, “It’s really our staff and our customers that have allowed us to achieve this national recognition.”
Call GVPS or visit the storefront at 446 Lancaster Avenue in Frazer next year for all of your service and maintenance needs. The GVPS store will transform into a holiday décor shoppe on November 2 for the Winter season.
